It's time for your flu vaccination
Weekend appointments available!
Influenza is a common viral infection that affects people of all ages. While it may be a mild disease for some, it can also cause serious illness and even lead to hospitalisation in otherwise healthy people. Vaccination, administered annually by a health professional is the safest means of protection from influenza.
The strains of the virus circulating can change yearly, prompting updates to the vaccines based on expert advice. That’s why it is important to get vaccinated every year. Everyone 6 months and over is recommended to get an influenza (flu) vaccine each year. The flu vaccine protects you, but it also can help protect those around you.
The flu vaccine is strongly recommended and the fluvax public is free under the program for the following people most at risk of complications from influenza:
• Children aged 6 months to less than 5 years
• Pregnant women at any stage during pregnancy
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over
• People aged 65 years and over
• People aged 5 years and over with certain medical conditions
Stay safe this flu season! The vaccination will be fully covered by Medicare when administered by our nurse. For individuals not eligible for the free vaccination, there will be a $22.00 out-of-pocket fee.
